루이암스트롱은 굉장이 아이코닉한 인물이다.

1971년 7월6일은 What a wonderful world의 가수 ‘루이 암스트롱’이 뉴욕의 자택에서 폐질환과 심장마비로 사망하여 하늘의 별이 된 날이다.

1967년 발표된 이 곡은 베트남전쟁에 대한 탄식과 평화에 대한 염원이 그대로 가사에 나타나는데 이를 가장 멋지게 표현한 영화가 있다.
1987년 배리 레빈슨 감독이 로빈 윌리암스를 주연으로 만든 영화 ‘굿모닝 베트남’에 이 곡이 삽입 되었는데 베트남전쟁의 참혹함을 이 장면과 음악보다 더 목가적이면서도 역설적으로 표현한 작품은 없는 것 같다.
